GRANTS

Durango Friends of the Arts hosts many fundraising events that generate grant money.  Grants are awarded annually to various performing and visual artists and art programs. 

DURANGO FRIENDS OF THE ARTS GRANT INSTRUCTIONS:

The goal of the Durango Friends of the Arts grants is to aid in the funding of performing and visual arts projects and programs, through grants, which will provide educational and cultural benefits to the people of the Durango area; to support local artists, individually and as a group; to encourage cultural diversity in the promotion of selected projects and to support projects that will benefit the greatest number of people.

  1. DFA grants are available to 501(c)(3) qualified organizations in LaPlata County.
  1. Grants will not be awarded to fund overhead, building construction or repair, or endowment of a requesting organization, but will fund the functioning of a specific project within the confines of the above goal.
  1. Grant funds may not be used for salaries, stipends or honorariums of any kind.
  1. Projects that appear to be commercial in nature will not be considered. 
  1. Grant applications must include a detailed income and expense budget of the project/program.
  1. No more than three grant requests shall be considered from any single applicant. 
  1. Funds granted must be withdrawn by October 1, or forfeited, and must be used in the calendar year of the grant.  All projects must be completed by December 31 of the grant year.
  1. If the funds have been withdrawn and/or the evaluation or project progress report is not received by October 1, and there is no schedule for use of the funds by year end, the funds granted must be returned by November 1 of the grant year.
  1. Failure to return the evaluation form or progress report by October 1 will make the recipient ineligible to apply for a grant the next year.  A progress report is mandatory if the project will not take place until after October 1.   An evaluation form must be submitted as soon as possible after the project is completed, prior to December 31.
