more about 17th century Dutch painter Johan Vermeer at the next general
membership meeting of the Durango Friends of the Arts. The meeting will
begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, at the Durango Arts Center. DAC
Docent Steve Walker will present the program.
Vermeer specialized in middle class domestic life and middle class
residents of his neighborhood, like the painting at right, Girl with the Pearl Earrings.

Artists' Market cancelled
This year's Artists' Market has been cancelled because of too many
other community events and arts activities this summer. We've had very
limited interest. So, next year . . . .
Stillwater Open House
& Performance Night
Durango Friends of the Arts grant recipient, the Stillwater Foundation,
will host an open house with faculty and student performances from 6 to
8 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at the Stillwater Music Facility, 121 W.

Dance the Night
Away on June 14
with Tim Sullivan at Edgemont Picnic Grounds
Join your Durango Friends of the Arts friends who purchased Tim
Sullivan and his band for a night of music and dancing on Saturday,
June 14. It starts at 4:30 p.m. when the picnic grounds open.
Bring a picnic dinner and your own beverages. Music and dancing
commence at 6 p.m. A dance floor and some tables will be under a tent.
Cost is $100 for you and five friends.
This very casual and fun event is a fund-raiser for Durango Friends of

Marilyn Garst will host a fantastic German dinner and piano concert for
a lovely fund-raiser scheduled for Friday, June 27, at her home. Her
sister, Bonnie Mangold, will accompany her. Dinner and concert will be
$100 per person, limited to 14 people.
If you've never attended one of Marilyn's gourmet dinners and piano
concerts, you will be enthralled by her charm, her cuisine and her

Jewelry Class has a few more openings
We've had a few openings from some cancellations, so the Style
'n' Stones Jewelry Class

openings. The class will be on Saturday, June 28. Cost is $100, all of

- City Market Card:
Use your City Market Card to contribute to Durango Friends of the Arts.
When you shop at City Market, a portion of your purchases will be
donated to City Market. However, you have to register your card and

- Zumba Lessons:
Join Karyn Gabaldon for Zumba classes, get fit, and donate to Durango
Friends of the Arts. The first dance lessons start on Saturday, May 17.
